🎓 Education
Engr. Marlon D. Mata holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Technology Management (Ph.D. TM.) from Cebu Technological University – Danao City Campus, where he graduated with a General Weighted Average (GWA) of 1.1 (1.0 as highest), from 2020 to 2022. He also earned his Master of Engineering, major in Mechanical Engineering (M.Eng’g-ME.), from Cebu Institute of Technology – University, graduating with a GWA of 4.44 (5.0 as highest) between 2017 and 2020. His undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME), was completed at CTU-Danao City Campus, where he graduated in 2016 with a GWA of 1.79. He also completed an Associate in Mechanical Engineering (AME) with specialization in Automotive, Machine Shop, Power Plant, and Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning from the same university in 2014. His early education includes secondary studies at Maslog National High School (with honors) and elementary at Danao City Central School.
👩🏫 Teaching Experience
With a strong background in both academia and industry, Engr. Mata currently serves as Mechanical Engineering Instructor and Department Chairman at CTU-Danao since November 2017, where he previously began as a contract instructor. His engineering practice is further enriched by his roles in consultancy and design. He is the Owner and Principal Mechanical Design Engineer at MDM Mechanical Eng’g Consultancy and Designing Services since 2018, where he specializes in HVAC ducting, MVAC systems, fire protection plans, plumbing, vertical transport systems, and STP design. He concurrently serves as an Associate Engineer for Mechanical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection at CGR Eng’g Consultancy.
🛰️ Research Focus
Engr. Mata’s research interests lie at the intersection of mechanical systems innovation and technology management. His doctoral work focused on sustainable systems in engineering management, while his master’s research included simulation-based optimization of HVAC systems and fire safety design. He continues to explore applied research in smart building systems, fluid dynamics, renewable energy integration, and automated mechanical control systems using IoT.

Engr. Mata possesses a robust set of skills in engineering design and software. His core competencies include plumbing systems design (including water supply, sanitary drainage, storm drains, pump sizing), piping systems, centralized air conditioning design, fire protection systems, refrigeration, and sewage treatment plant design. He is also adept in elevator and escalator systems design. In terms of software, he is proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks (including CFD and FEA), EPANET 2.0, and Arduino microcontroller programming (C/C++). His IT knowledge extends to web programming (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, MySQL) and Microsoft Office applications.

Throughout his academic and professional journey, Engr. Mata has consistently demonstrated leadership and excellence. He is a recipient of the Outstanding Leadership Award, Systemwide Excellence in Leadership Award, and the University Presidential Leadership Award during his undergraduate studies. He was also recognized as a Proficient Student during his associate degree. His early academic achievements include graduating with honors in high school.
